Diego Maradona is reportedly having to self-isolate after the Argentina legend came into contact with somebody who has tested positive for coronavirus.

Maradona, who turns 60 later this week, is currently the coach of Argentine Primera Division club Gimnasia de La Plata.

Though he is set to stay indoors with Infobae reporting that Maradona has been told to isolate by his doctor as a swab is evaluated.

It is not known who Maradona came into contact with though Infobae add that one of his security officers had shown symptoms.

It’s claimed that Maradona came into contact with the person last Sunday in the Campos de Roca neighbourhood in Buenos Aires.

Maradona is reportedly considered at high risk due to his weight and as he has recently undergone surgery.

It’s not the first time the 1986 World Cup winner has had to isolate having previously done so following contact with Nicolas Contin, who had tested positive.

Though Maradona’s lawyer had said the former playmaker tested positive following that contact.

“The test that Diego Maradona took has come back negative for Covid,” his lawyer Matias Morla said on Twitter earlier this month.

“Thanks to all the Argentines for their concern and best wishes. Stay safe because the virus is still out there among us.”

Maradona had previously asked the “Hand of God” to save the world from the coronavirus pandemic.

“Today this happened to us and many people say it is a new Hand of God,” Maradona was quoted as saying.

“But today I’m asking for that hand to end this pandemic so people can go back to living their lives, healthy and happy.

“Hopefully it is understood that we have to face what’s coming together, for the good of football. No-one is like Rambo in this war, because even Rambo loses against this.”
