Dean Henderson has impressed on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United with Premier League rivals Chelsea believed to be interested in a transfer for the goalkeeper

Chelsea are reportedly ready to hand Dean Henderson a bumper deal if the goalkeeper does not get the guarantees he is seeking about his future at Manchester United.

Henderson impressed on loan at Sheffield United this season, helping the Blades achieve a top-half finish in their first campaign since returning to the Premier League.

There have been thoughts that he could overtake David de Gea as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s No 1 at Old Trafford.

Henderson still has two years left on his United contract, though it’s believed he won't put pen to paper on a new deal unless he gets an assurance from Solskjaer that he will start next season as his first-choice keeper.

And The Mirror claim that Chelsea are ready to pounce should there be doubts over Henderson’s Red Devils future.

It’s reported that the Blues would be favourites to land him if they table an offer of £55m for the keeper while offering Henderson £170,000 per week.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard could be on the lookout for a new goalie after axing Kepa Arrizabalaga for Sunday's final game of the season at home to Wolves.

The Mirror add that Lampard has put Henderson at the top of his wish list, though Tottenham are also believed to be keen.

Henderson kept 13 clean sheets in 36 games for the Blades this term though Solskjaer has stuck with De Gea, despite the Spaniard making a number of high-profile errors.

Solskjaer recently said: "Dean has had a fantastic couple of years at Sheffield United. Eventually he will end up as England and Manchester United number one."

"We have Sergio Romero, Lee Grant and David de Gea. I have a good problem to decide how our goalkeeping department is going to look next year. You can't have three or four top keepers there.

"We need to make sure Dean plays football to develop and he needs games. We appreciate what Sheffield United have done with him."
