Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has revealed one team-mate he may never be able to forgive.

Almost two years have passed since England knocked Sweden out of the World Cup quarter-finals and defender Victor Lindelof is still angry at his Manchester United team-mate Harry Maguire for scoring in that crunch showdown.

Headers from Maguire and Dele Alli wrapped up a 2-0 win as Gareth Southgate's side marched into the semi-finals.

Kieran Trippier had Three Lions fans dreaming of glory when he scored a wonderful free-kick against Croatia in the next round.

But those hopes were dashed as Croatia turned the game on it's head to win 2-1 and progress to the final.

However, Lindelop's memory of that tournament in Russia is bittersweet as Sweden defied expectations to reach the last eight.

A year later he found himself to be playing on the same side as Maguire - who made the £80million move to United from Leicester.

But the 25-year-old has yet to forgive his team-mate for ending his dreams.

"I’m still a bit mad at him for that!" Lindelof said.

“But I thought he was a great player back then and it’s great to have him on my team.”

Maguire has fond memories of that tournament as he became national hero for his solid defensive performances.

His contribution from set-piece - of which England scored a host of goals - was also impressive.

Maguire earned a move to Old Trafford with his displays for club and country.

And he has since reflected on that night where he dumped Lindelof's Sweden out of the World Cup.

He told Inside United: “To score the first goal was brilliant. A lot of big games nowadays are decided by set-play goals and it was a tight game that day.

“We managed to get the first one and it’s a great memory for me.

“But I knew before I came here how good a player Vic was. I’ve watched him playing for United in the last couple of years and he’s grown and grown.

“I’ve seen that again this season and he’s going to be a great player for the future, as well as now.”
