Steve McManaman insists Erling Braut Haaland should not join Real Madrid any time soon.

Erling Braut Haaland is not ready for a move to Real Madrid yet, according to Steve McManaman. Haaland has been firing on all cylinders ever since joining Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg last January with a staggering 12 goals in 11 appearances to his name.

The star striker broke into the scene with some marvellous performances with Salzburg where he clocked 29 goals in 27 matches.

The Norway international attracted a lot of interest from various heavy hitters, including Manchester United who failed to reach an agreement with him.

The 19-year-old then moved to Dortmund but his time at the Westfalenstadion is not expected to be long and that is why United are likely to make another bid in the near future.

McManaman insists Haaland should stay where he's at for the time being as he is getting a lot of minutes at the top stage and a big move to a club like Real would come too early for him.

The Real and Liverpool legend believes the Norwegian ace should only consider that move after he has played 200 matches in the Bundesliga and 30 games in the Champions League.

McManaman told HorseRacing.Net: “It’s too soon for him to leave Borussia Dortmund. He seems to be happy and more importantly he’s playing regularly and scoring goals.

“He should move when he’s a more experienced player after playing 200 or so games for Dortmund and playing 20 to 30 games in the Champions League, which he should do.

“He can’t just go and jump ship and go to Real Madrid. You’ve seen what’s happened to Luka Jovic this season, he’s hardly kicked a ball for Real Madrid after having a wonderful season last year in Germany.

“Haaland doesn’t need that pressure. On top of that, I’ve heard that Real Madrid are interested in Kylian Mbappe instead, so both of them don’t need to be there at the same time.”

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appeared to be very keen on Haaland as he is very familiar with his talent having worked together at Molde.

Solskjaer holds no grudge towards the youngster's decision to snub the Red Devils as he is happy with his success at Dortmund.

The United boss said recently: “I normally never comment on opposition players, but I’m delighted for Erling.

"He’s a top boy and a fantastic kid you want for the best for. He’s started fantastically for Dortmund. It’s brilliant for Norway to have a striker who can score like that.”
