Manchester United vs Burnley - Man Utd forward Marcus Rashford to miss Burnley clash
Posted Tuesday, January 21, 2020 by PA
Manchester United are without striker Marcus Rashford for Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Burnley due to a stress fracture of the back.
The England international is facing a lengthy spell out, joining midfielders Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay, and defender Axel Tuanzebe on the casualty list.
Centre-back Victor Lindelof is also doubtful due to illness but Eric Bailly, on the bench at Liverpool on Sunday after a long absence with a knee injury, is in contention.
Burnley will be without striker Ashley Barnes for the trip to Old Trafford.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche revealed the surgeons who performed a hernia operation on Barnes are “happy with how it went” but he is facing an extended period on the sidelines, meaning Jay Rodriguez is once again likely to fill in.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson is close to a return after a hamstring injury and has an outside chance of being in the squad to travel to United.
Man Utd provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Williams, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Young, Jones, Lindelof, Maguire, Bailly, Shaw, Fred, Garner, Gomes, Matic, Chong, Lingard, Pereira, James, Mata, Chong, Greenwood, Martial.
Burnley provisional squad: Pope, Taylor, Lowton, Mee, Tarkowski, Lennon, Westwood, McNeil, Cork, Wood, Hendrick, Rodriguez, Vydra, Bardsley, Pieters, Brady, Hart, Long.
