Crewe could hand an immediate debut to new loan signing Michael Nottingham as they host Cheltenham in Sky Bet League Two.
The St Kitts & Nevis defender, who has joined the Railwaymen from Blackpool until the end of the season, can play at right-back or centre-back.
Manager David Artell will check on experienced defender Nicky Hunt, who is a doubt with a hip injury.
Eddie Nolan (back), Olly Lancashire (Achilles), Rio Adebisi (ankle) and Billy Sass-Davies (ankle) are all sidelined.
Cheltenham have Alex Addai back after suspension but will be without his fellow midfielder Ryan Broom due to a hamstring injury.
Addai has served a three-match ban but Broom was forced off after just 15 minutes of last week’s victory over Walsall.
Forwards Luke Varney and Reuben Reid are both back in training after injuries and could be in contention for places on the bench.
Striker Jonte Smith is again missing after illness and goalkeeper Scott Flinders is out for the rest of the season with a broken leg.
