Kieron Morris struck the winner five minutes from the end of extra-time as 10-man Tranmere came from behind to beat Wycombe 2-1 and set up an FA Cup second round meeting at home to Chichester.
Wycombe were given a major helping hand as Rovers’ on-loan West Brom defender Kane Wilson was dismissed for a late challenge on Jack Grimmer in the 41st minute.
The hosts appeared to take advantage with Anthony Stewart scrambling home in the last minute of the first half after the visitors failed to clear Jamie Mascoll’s corner.
Nick Freeman hit the bar for Wycombe but Tranmere levelled against the run of play as Morgan Ferrier powered home, having been set up by Darren Potter.
The Chairboys dominated the rest of the game but found Scott Davies in superb form.
The Rovers goalkeeper twice denied Scott Kashket and then Alex Samuel – and his heroics continued beyond 90 minutes as he foiled Samuel and Josh Parker.
And the saves proved crucial as Morris fired in from the edge of the area from a rare attack.
