Fans give epic Liverpool responses to David James’ Strictly Come Dancing exit

Former Liverpool star David James did not enjoy the same fortune as his old team today as he became the fourth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.

Hours after Jurgen Klopp’s Reds snatched a late equaliser at Old Trafford to steal a point against Manchester United, James got the boot on Strictly.

Adam Lallana’s goal from off the bench five minutes from time ensured Liverpool continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

And the pivotal prod home in front of the travelling Liverpool fans ultimately extended their lead at the top to six points back to another of James’ ex-clubs in reigning champions Manchester City.

James, 49, was in action on the dancefloor instead of Old Trafford this evening.

But he and professional partner Nadiya Bychkova bid farewell to the Glitterball following their dance-off with BBC Sport presenter Mike Bushell and Katya Jones.

It brought a premature end to James’ participation in the popular BBC One show.

And on the same night Liverpool fought back to draw 1-1 with United, football fans delivered some funny reactions on Twitter.

One posted: “David James voted off. Liverpool fans no doubt will be blaming VAR #StrictlyComeDancing results”.

Another joked: “David James on #strictly2019 had more rhythm than @LFC today and that’s a fact. Just saying”.

A third said: “Concentration was always David James downfall. For us he was brilliant as he spent most of the game being worked. Terrible for Liverpool as he’d go 85 mins with nothing to do and then let in the first shot”.

And a fourth posted: “David James made a few mistakes the judges say Liverpool fans know only too well just how many he makes”.

Some even mistook Manchester United’s young winger Dan James for the former Liverpool keeper amid today’s crunch showdown at Old Trafford.

One wrote on Twitter: “There’s something about this David James! Always alive !! Man U can pull this one off”.

With plenty of big tackles going in on Dan James during the game, prior to Strictly later in the evening, another confused fan added: “Liverpool players are trying to kill David James #MUNLIV ”.
