Doncaster boss Moore: I thought we were worthy of a win.

Doncaster manager Darren Moore was disappointed not to come away with a victory at Portman Road after drawing 0-0 draw with high-flying Ipswich.

Both teams remain unbeaten in League One this season following the stalemate, but Rovers feel they should have come away with the three points.

The visitors should have been at least two goals to the good in the first half after dominating proceedings, and also had further chances in the second half which included Ben Sheaf hitting the post.

Ipswich, who moved up to second place with the draw, also had opportunities with James Norwood twice going close after the break, but it was Doncaster who Moore believes should have been celebrating victory.

He said: “We had a game plan to come here and win the game and I think on the full 90 minutes I thought we were worthy of a win.

“If you don’t win the game you make sure you don’t lose it and we’ve not lost the game. But credit to the players I thought they performed well and if I have one slight criticism with us it was just in the final third, we just didn’t get that killer touch for the goal.

“I felt we created some good chances, we’ve come down here and I thought we dominated the game in terms of possession of the ball and I thought we used it well.

“I thought that the players did well and took the game away from them (Ipswich) and played our stuff and looking at it I thought we could have won it and got the three points and it’s a little bit disappointing after the way we performed.”

Town forward Norwood was unable to make this most of his chances in the 65th minute when he found himself clear on goal with just goalkeeper Ian Lawlor to beat.

Kane Vincent-Young also went close for the hosts before Lawlor denied Norwood a match-winning goal in stoppage time with a great save.

Ipswich boss Paul Lambert said “It was a tough game and I don’t think we deserved to win the game and I don’t think we deserved to lose it. The first half Doncaster were better, the second half we were slightly better.

“We are going to have to look at how teams raise their game when they come here because of the stadium and the atmosphere so a point’s okay and I am quite pleased … not overly pleased. If you can’t win a game make sure you don’t lose it.

“I know from experience from winning titles that I certainly did not win every game. We had some really good saves from Tomas (Holy) but we have a game in hand. I’m pleased.”
