Preston manager Alex Neil hopes to have Sean Maguire available for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.
Maguire missed the midweek win over Stoke after suffering concussion in Saturday’s game at Swansea but was expected to return to training on Thursday.
Captain Tom Clarke is doubtful after picking up a knee injury against Stoke, while Andrew Hughes has returned to training after missing the last three games.
Fellow forward David Nugent remains sidelined with a calf strain while it has been confirmed that Louis Moult is likely to miss the whole season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury to his left knee against Swansea.
Sheffield Wednesday caretaker manager Lee Bullen hopes to have defender Liam Palmer available for the trip to Deepdale.
Palmer missed the midweek clash with Luton with a back injury as the Owls made it three wins from four games.
Bullen admits he is facing a tough task rotating his squad to keep everyone happy and full-back Matt Penney has joined Bundesliga 2 side St. Pauli on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old broke into the Wednesday side last season, featuring 17 times after making his debut in the Carabao Cup against Sunderland.
