Semedo is the latest Barcelona player to refuse to be part of Neymar deal

Barcelona's attempts to include players in a deal to sign Neymar aren't having much success, as Nelson Semedo becomes the latest to turn down a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

At the start of the summer, Semedo had been expected to be part of the operation to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone was looking for a right-back and had identified Semedo as his number one target, with the Portuguese defender ready to make the move to the Spanish capital.

However, Barcelona decided not to include him in the deal and paid Griezmann's full release clause instead. Now, PSG are in the market for a right-back and had sounded out Semedo as an option.

For Barcelona, it was a good chance to use their player as a bargaining chip, despite the fact that it'd leave them with very few options in defence.

Ivan Rakitic and Samuel Umtiti were both linked with a move to PSG as part of the Neymar deal, but neither have the intention of leaving the Camp Nou this summer.

With Philippe Coutinho, before his loan move to Bayern Munich, or Arturo Vidal fancying a move to Paris, Barcelona are running out of players to use.

Ousmane Dembele is an option but he alone won't be enough to pry Neymar away from the Parc des Princes.
