East Fife secure away Betfred Cup win over Dundee United

League One East Fife pulled off a 2-0 win at Dundee United in their Betfred Cup Group A match.

Aaron Dunsmore put the visitors ahead towards the end of the first half, and Liam Watt added a second in the 51st minute.

Inverness saw off a spirited display by 10-man Cove Rangers to win 3-2 at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium and top Group D.

Jordan White headed the home side in front from a corner on 38 minutes.

Mitch Megginson, though, struck either side of half-time to put Rangers 2-1 in front.

James Keatings equalised on 55 minutes and Nikolay Todorov headed in a third for the Championship side before striker Megginson was shown a red card for a second caution on with 16 minutes left.

In Group E, Morton ran out 5-0 winners at League Two Annan.

Aidan Nesbitt gave the visitors a seventh-minute lead, with Nicky Cadden scoring twice before half-time.

Midfielder Nesbitt grabbed his second with seven minutes left, and Robbie Muirhead scored a late fifth.

In Group C, Liam Buchanan’s late header gave Championship side Alloa a 2-1 home win over Sterling.

David Wilson put the League Two side in front on 51 minutes, but Kevin O’Hara’s close-range effort on 69 minutes levelled things up before Buchanan nodded in a winner with just four minutes left.

Lowland League Berwick were beaten 3-0 at home by Falkirk to stay bottom of Group G after a third straight defeat without scoring a goal.

Declan McManus headed the away side in front in the 13th minute. Midfielder Robbie Leitch and Denny Johnstone, from a corner, then wrapped up a comfortable win.

In Group H, Ruari Paton’s second half goal proved enough to give Lowland League outfit East Kilbride a 1-0 win at Edinburgh City.

Raith beat Peterhead 3-1 in their Group D match.

Kieron Bowie gave the home side the lead after just four minutes, and Michael Miller added a second goal in the 22nd minute.

Lewis Allan headed in a late third, before Ben Armour struck a consolation for the visitors.
