INTER MILAN officials are due to meet with Romelu Lukaku's agent to work out the next phase of his move from Manchester United, according to reports.
Stories in Italy suggest the Nerazzurri are ramping up their efforts to secure the Belgian's signature.
Now, Sky Sports Italia report that Lukaku's agent, Federico Pastorello, will hold fresh talks with Inter "soon".
An early bid of £62million, split between a loan and permanent deal in two years' time, was quickly rebuffed by the Red Devils.
Contrastingly, personal terms are considered less of a sticking point in the deal.
And perhaps it is little surprise that Pastorello quelled the flurry of speculation when talking to reporters in Milan.
He told Sky: "There is no news, I came to talk to the director to better understand the situation.
"We will see the decisions they will take. We do not decide them: it is clear that if they want to buy the player, they have to move.
"You need to ask the club. Inter are seriously trying, Lukaku is a declared goal. But it is still a difficult dream."
Inter may have wealthy owners but are constrained by Financial Fair Play and thus need to raise funds to make an offer worth considering.
Already this summer, the Italians have tried to flog Joao Mario to Monaco for £22m and left-back Dalbert to Lyon for £18m.
Lukaku, meanwhile, turned up for pre-season training on Monday despite the offer of time off while his future is sorted.
During the summer, the striker admitted his admiration for new Inter boss Antonio Conte and insinuated that a move to the Giuseppe Meazza would interest him.
He said: "As for my future, I have already made a decision that I still cannot communicate publicly out of respect for Manchester United with whom I have a contract.
"I am a big Serie A fan, those close to me know that I have always wanted to play in the English league and in the Italian one, I love Italy.
"And then Cristiano Ronaldo arrived, Sarri will go to Juventus, Ancelotti is at Napoli, it will be an exciting Serie A.
"The club and my agent will talk about it but I have already made my decision."
