MANCHESTER UNITED received a furious backlash from fans after posting Fathers' Day snaps of players and their kids.

The Red Devils tweeted out a feel good Fathers' Day message but some supporters were not convinced.

Alongside pictures of footballing fathers such as Anthony Martial, Fred and Chris Smalling, United posted the message: "Happy #FathersDay to all #MUFC dads out there - have a great day!"

But the cute photos of the players and their young ones did not soften up some United fans who demanded players not pictures from the club.

Aiming a tweet at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Mike Phelan and Michael Carrick, @hornvogel replied: "Happy Fathers' Day but please sign some players!"

While another comically quipped: "Happy Fathers' day to De Ligt, Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho!"

Comments such as "Shame Jesse Lingard hasn't got a baby then he'd have someone more mature in his life to look up to," generally set the tone for the backlash received.

In simple words no signings today

And while the family friendly message was wasted on most United fans, the club are yet to make a serious signing this window.

They also face the prospect of losing Paul Pogba to Real Madrid and may be forced to pay Marcus Rashford £350k-a-week if they want to keep hold of the youngster.

But recent news of interest in West Ham's Issa Diop and SunSport exclusively revealing United are ready to stump up £80million for Harry Maguire might give the Fathers' Day frumps something to smile about.
