De Ligt to Man Utd boost

Manchester United have two advantages in the race to snare Matthijs de Ligt from beaten Champions League semi-finalists Ajax.

Transfer guru Duncan Castles believes the money at United’s disposal means they can beat Barcelona and Manchester City to De Ligt.

He also says United’s relationship with Ajax chief Edwin van der Sar can help them tie up a deal as soon as possible.

United had, though, previously been reported to have concerns over De Ligt potentially gaining weight as he gets older.

Liverpool should consider Coutinho return

Liverpool should think about bringing Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho back to the club if the option becomes available, says Jamie Carragher.

"I wouldn't say I would be actively going to get him, but if there was a possibility of bringing Coutinho back for decent money, and Barca wanted to cut their losses a little bit because it hasn't worked out, then I'd do that," he told the Liverpool Echo.

"Would he be welcomed back? I'm not sure. But he should be. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be.

"We lack that player in the squad. We have it in Lallana and Shaqiri, but this is a different level of player.”

"Let's be clear about it. I have not asked the club for him to be second goalkeeper next year.

"Those are things that will be decided at the end of the season, just like with every other player.”

Manchester United have a problem with Alexis Sanchez

Manchester United have a problem with Alexis Sanchez and will struggle to sell him, according to Andy Mitten.

“If you look at Alexis Sanchez, he’s not worked out,” Mitten said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.

Chelsea can complete two deals

Chelsea can sign Gonzalo Higuain and Mateo Kovacic permanently this summer due to a loophole in FIFA rules.

Chelsea have been slapped with a two-window transfer ban for the signing of young foreign players which they have appealed against. That, however, has failed.

The club are now considering whether to take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport leaving their transfer plans in limbo.

Although they could have a temporary solution - by making two loan moves permanent.

And former Rangers skipper thinks the gap could close even more.

Ferguson told the Daily Record: “I truly believe if [Gerrard] gets his recruitment spot on this summer, with three or four quality additions, Rangers will start the season with a really strong chance of winning silverware.”
