OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER is on a mission to capture top Three Lions starlets this summer.
The Manchester United boss wants to strengthen his English spine with a trio of home-grown players.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and West Ham’s Declan Rice are top of the hit-list.
And he will also move for a new English defender should any of his backline leave over the summer.
Solskjaer, set to be confirmed as United’s permanent manager, has told executive vice- chairman Ed Woodward that English players are his priority.
He has been hugely impressed with the work done by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
Rice, valued at ï¿¡40million, and ï¿¡80m Sancho are his top targets along with either ï¿¡40m Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka or ï¿¡50m Leicester centre-back Harry Maguire.
But United would have to sell a central defender first to make space.
Like his mentor Sir Alex Ferguson, Solskjaer has recognised English players’ importance.
David Beckham, Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt were key to Ferguson’s Old Trafford success.
United currently have Marcus Rashford, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard.
And while they are still looking for major signings abroad, they have made it clear they will back talent from these shores too.
