Michael Owen sparks outrage with Marcus Rashford comments

Man United suffer three injuries vs Liverpool

Manchester United and Liverpool went head-to-head in one of two Premier League games on Sunday.

The game would finish 0-0 with Liverpool moving up to 1st and United slipping down to 5th.

The story of the game, however, is perhaps the number of injuries suffered.

In the first 43 minutes, Man United lost Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard to injury.

Liverpool would also lose Roberto Firmino in the first 45.

Marcus Rashford also appeared to be in some discomfort but he could not be taken off as United had already used all their subs.

Owen's Rashford comments

With Rashford not 100% and United out of subs, Michael Owen made some rather controversial comments during half time on Sunday.

Owen stated that he would tell the Liverpool players to go out and target Rashford's ankle:

"If I was Jurgen Klopp in that dressing room at half-time with Manchester United not being able to bring on another substitute, i'd be saying ‘right, first person, first opportunity, go and kick Rashford on the ankle he's been limping on in the first half'."

As is to be expected, Owen has received some stick on social media for his comments.
