The Cardiff City star’s sister Romina broke down in tears today after flying to Wales from her native Argentina as she begged search teams not to give up and insisted: “I know he’s still alive.”
Harbour master David Barker had said earlier in the day air and sea searches would stop because “chances of survival are extremely remote.”
Berenice Schkair, who after news broke earlier this week of the sudden disappearance of the plane carrying Sala hinted "football mafia” should be probed, said on social media: “Please ask in all the world’s media that they don’t cancel the search, that President Macri seeks justice, and that they don’t stop looking for Emiliano Sala.
Argentinian Schkair has been described as Sala’s ex.

But she has since insisted she was neither his girlfriend or his ex, just a friend “who was getting to know him and last spent time with him 15 days ago.”
A pal of Sala’s slapped the model down over her “football mafia” comments by insisting theories about what had happened to his plane were not the priority at the moment.
Martin Molteni said: “Thinking about some sort of conspiracy theory involving the mafia at this moment in time does not seem to be appropriate at the moment.
"We want to focus things on making sure Emiliano is saved.”
An Argentinian TV journalist, relaying television messages during a television appearance todayH which she said she had exchanged with Schkair after her football mafia comments, added: “She prefers to let Emiliano’s family and friends speak now.

"She said she talked about football mafia because it was the first thing that came into her head when it happened.
"He was put in a plane that wasn’t in good condition as far as Berenice is concerned but she says she doesn’t know any more than anyone else and prefers not to speak any more out for respect for Emiliano’s family.”
Reading out on messages from her phone which she said she had exchanged with Berenice, the journalist added: “I’d last seen him a fortnight ago and was getting to know him. We were beginning a relationship.
"For me this is all very strange. A plane can’t disappear just like that. This happened at the best time in his life. It seems odd that he was in a plane in those conditions. But I prefer to wait now to see what happens.”
