LIVERPOOL have reportedly had a £60million bid for Benfica starlet Joao Felix rejected.
The attacking midfielder, 19, broke into the first team this season and has caught the eye of several sides.
Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha claims the Reds tried to tempt Benfica with an audacious bid.
Felix, who has a reported £105m release clause, has just signed a new deal with the Portuguese giants and will not be easy to prise away.
He began his career at rivals Porto but was released from their academy as he was considered too small.
The versatile playmaker, who can play across the front line or behind a striker, made his reserves debut aged 16 and quickly impressed.
Felix has four goals in nine games this season having capitalised on his chance to play senior football.
And his versatility could be exactly what Jurgen Klopp needs with his free-flowing, attacking style.
It was claimed Felix was heading to West Ham over the summer - leading Benfica to issue a strongly-worded hands-off warning to potential suitors.
But Liverpool's considerable financial clout an the lure of Premier League football could prove decisive.
