Real Madrid Are Rubbing Cristiano Ronaldo Out Of Their History

Real Madrid have apparently taken steps to rub Cristiano Ronaldo out of their history after making some noticeable changes on their website.

In one case, Los Blancos have posted an article on their website celebrating four players -- Sergio Ramos, Raphaël Varane, Luka Modrić and Marcelo -- securing their spots in UEFA's Team of the Year for 2018.

However, the Spanish club has downplayed the significance of their former talisman, even though he also secured a spot in TOTY for Juventus and Madrid.

While Ramos, Varane, Modrić and Marcelo all appear in the article's featured image and have some strong words of praise for them, there's not much love for the 33-year-old Portuguese footballer besides him getting mentioned along with the other players.

According to the Daily Mail, Madrid stopped following Ronaldo on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram after he left for Juventus. It is the complete opposite to Manchester United, with the club still following their former star.

Ronaldo, who is Madrid's all-time record scorer, has no place in the club's main photo choices for the 'Football History' and 'Football Legends' sections. That's right, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has missed out both spots to Alfredo Di Stéfano and Zinedine Zidane.

There are other cases where the changes have been subtle, but are arguably questionable on Madrid's part.

When it comes to the club celebrating their success with recent trophies, the Juventus star appears in the background of one photo.

The newspaper claims that the club have followed a similar rule on their official TV channel, mainly for showing little footage of Ronaldo where and when possible.

"If they want to feature another player's greatest moments and there are highlights of him scoring from Ronaldo's assists or assisting a Ronaldo goal, then they will go looking for other highlights clip involving other players," the Daily Mail's Pete Jenson wrote.

While it has been revealed why Ronaldo left Madrid, he has recently said that he would be open to the idea of returning to one of his former clubs.

Did Madrid make the wrong mistake in selling Ronaldo to Juventus?
