Morecambe produced a smash and grab to take all the points at Forest Green as Aaron Wildig’s late goal secured a 1-0 away win.
With the game goalless after Rovers failed to take a raft of chances, the Morecambe skipper pounced in the 86th minute to secure his side back-to-back League Two victories.
Mark Cooper’s Rovers could have taken the lead inside 30 seconds but Carl Winchester blazed over.
At the other end, Zak Mills was denied by a fine save from home goalkeeper James Montgomery.
Morecambe defender Steven Old cleared George Williams’ effort off the line after the former Wales international got on the end of a Theo Archibald cross.
Sharp reflexes from Montgomery kept the scores level as he denied Shrimps striker Liam Mandeville from point-blank range, while at the other end Williams forced Mark Halstead to tip over.
Rovers dominated the second half. Archibald evaded three defenders to create himself a chance but he skewed wide with just Halstead to beat.
Halstead then denied Reuben Reid with 30 minutes to go while only a last-gasp challenge from Jordan Cranston denied Reece Brown.
Morecambe were penned in, but in a rare attacking foray Wildig showed composure in the box to fire the winner beyond Montgomery.
