Mane: Liverpool are more than just a front three

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane says that the Reds are more than just a front three after their 4-1 thrashing of Cardiff City on Saturday.

Naturally Liverpool's attacking trident of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Mane grabs the headlines in many of their matches, but the Reds have been playing really well as a complete unit this term with their defence operating on a similar level to the forward line.

Mane grabbed a brace and an assist on Saturday which came on the back of an excellent performance in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade.

"Hopefully we're going to keep going like that! It's something that comes naturally because Mo and Bobby are great players and of course I'm happy to play alongside them," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"But people always talk about the front three - but it's the team, the work starts behind us. They make it easier, we are lucky boys and score all the time but all the team did their job."

Cardiff put up a good fight at Anfield and threatened to get back into the game when the score was 2-1 in the second half, but Mane was happy with his side's performance overall.

"I'm happy," said the Senegal international. "We played very well even though it was a little bit tight in the second half after it went to 2-1.

"It's part of football. But after that we controlled the game and created many chances. At the end we scored four goals so I think we deserved to win.

"The coach said yesterday it would be a very tough game. It's normal, it's the Premier League.

"We knew it would not be easy but we are Liverpool, we were at home and we always try to play the same passing game, try to do our best and win the games."

Liverpool equalled their best start to a Premier League season after going 10 games undefeated, taking 26 points, equalling their tally from the 2008/09 season.

The Reds have also enjoyed a good start to their Champions League campaign in one of the competition's toughest groups. They have already defeated PSG at home and have only failed to beat Napoli, losing 1-0 at the Stadio San Paolo.

Jurgen Klopp's men will have their Premier League unbeaten streak tested wen they head to the Emirates to face Arsenal next Saturday.
