Denton makes goalscoring return to Halifax

Former Halifax striker Tom Denton returned to haunt his old side with an equaliser for Chesterfield in a 1-1 draw which extended both clubs’ winless runs.
The 29-year-old was released by the Shaymen in the summer and was picked up by Martin Allen’s side after a brief spell at Alfreton.
He was just about to be substituted in the 79th minute when he headed home Jerome Binnom-Williams’ cross for his first Spireites’ goal.
It cancelled out the effort from Matthew Kosylo, returning from suspension, 10 minutes earlier when he anticipated a flick-on from goalkeeper Sam Johnson’s kick and rounded Callum Burton to score.
Denton had hit the crossbar with a header in a first half low on chances, while Kyle Wooton did the same in added time at the end of the second.
The result means Halifax are still waiting for their first win since late August 27, with Chesterfield’s run without a victory now at two months.
