Buchanan treble earns thrilling win for 10-man Raith

Raith launched a stunning fightback with 10 men to snatch the most unlikely 4-3 win over Airdrieonians in Ladbrokes League One.

Joao Victoria and Dale Carrick gave Airdrie a 2-0 half-time lead and though Liam Buchanan got Raith back in the game, they lost Iain Davidson to a red card after a headbutt on Grant Gallagher.

Victoria made it 3-1 with a thumping finish off the bar to seemingly finish the contest – but Buchanan struck again, Kevin Nisbet equalised in stoppage time and there was still time for Buchanan to complete his hat-trick and snatch victory.

Brechin beat Dumbarton 3-2 with a stirring comeback of their own.

Bobby Barr gave Dumbarton a half-time lead and they doubled their advantage early in the second half through an excellent finish from an unnamed trialist just six minutes after his introduction as a substitute.

Boris Melingui pulled one back and Callum Tapping equalised for Brechin before a dramatic finish.

Dumbarton substitute Callum Gallagher’s stoppage-time goal was disallowed before Melingui won it at the other end.

Arbroath replaced Airdrie at the top of the table thanks to a 3-0 win at East Fife.

Jonny Court had a goal disallowed for the hosts and it was Arbroath who instead took a half-time lead through quickfire goals from Thomas O’Brien and Ryan Wallace.

Wallace teed up Danny Denholm for the third as Arbroath moved to 10 points from four games.

Forfar beat Stenhousemuir 2-0 with first-half goals from John Baird and Murray Mackintosh and Stranraer beat Montrose by the same scoreline.

David Brownlie scored his first for the club following a scramble from a corner before another set-piece led to Grant Anderson’s spectacular scissor-kick.

Max Currie superbly saved from Andrew Steeves and Sean Dillon to ensure victory.
