According to a report from Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, Liverpool are prepared to pay €60 million (£52 million) to bring Real Madrid ace Luka Modric to Anfield this summer.
The Croatian international has been a mainstay for Los Blancos since making his £33 million move to the Santiago Bernabeu from Tottenham in the summer of 2012.
Modric has chalked up 13 goals and 38 assists in 250 appearances for Madrid, but it is the manner in which he makes his side tick that is the most impressive facet of his game.
Diario Gol claims that Jürgen Klopp is a big fan of the Real Madrid midfielder, and is prepared to pay up to £52 million for his services this summer.
The Croatia international is one of the best players in his position on the continent, but £52 million seems like an awful lot of money for a 32-year-old.
It could be argued that Modric is already past his prime, and the wisdom behind spending so heavily on someone with maybe only two or three years left at the highest level would be questionable to say the least.
