Bellerin cures his ankle injury... with a vegan diet!

A healthy diet is the key to shaking off injuries according to Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, who has revealed that adopting veganism helped him to overcome an ankle injury.

He claims that his ongoing ankle issues throughout his career have vanished since the change.

"At the start of the season I wanted to go back to being vegan for a few weeks to cleanse my body," he told The Players' Tribune.

"But I felt so good that I've been doing it for six months.

"I've always had a small problem with my ankles and it's got worse in hard games, but now I don't even have to protect them.

"It wasn't easy to stop eating everything that I was and focus on this vegan diet.

"It took me a few days to feel better, but in the third week I was very good again.

"I woke up in the morning and had a lot of energy, not like before when I had to turn the alarm off five times before getting out of bed."

That said, he did also admit that his Arsenal teammates have spent the whole time trying to slip meat into his meals without him realising.
