Nick Powell set to miss out for FA Cup heroes Wigan

Wigan could be without Nick Powell for their Sky Bet League One clash with fellow FA Cup heroes Rochdale.

The Latics’ stunning win over Manchester City came despite the loss of arguably their best player during the first half after he sustained a knock.

Captain Sam Morsy serves the second game of his two-match suspension after picking up his 10th yellow card against Blackpool last week but James Vaughan, Devante Cole and Donervon Daniels all return having been ineligible for the cup.

Wigan will hope to replicate their cup form in the league having lost their previous two matches, with Blackburn taking over top spot on Monday.

Rochdale boss Keith Hill could ring the changes for his side’s third game in seven days.

He named an unchanged side from the one that brilliantly held Tottenham to a draw on Sunday for Wednesday’s league clash with MK Dons, which ended goalless.

The likes of Scott Wiseman, Sam Hart and Billy Knott, who were all cup-tied against Spurs, could come into contention along with goal-scoring hero Steve Davies.

Calvin Andrew has been battling an Achilles problem and is unlikely to be fit while Niall Canavan (ankle) and Keith Keane (groin) are long-term absentees.
