Elliott Romain netted a late winner to help National League strugglers Torquay to a much-needed 2-1 win at Maidenhead.
The on-loan Dagenham forward claimed his second goal in four appearances for the club when he lashed the ball home five minutes from time.
Sam Barratt, looking to score for a third successive game, went close to giving Maidenhead a 26th minute lead, his effort hitting the angle of post and bar.
The visitors took advantage of that let-off when they went in front 10 minutes before the break with a stunning strike, Aaron Barnes finding the top corner from fully 30 yards – his first senior goal.
Barratt then squandered a glorious opportunity to level when he was played through on goal but his chip over Vincent Dorel went over the bar.
Maidenhead did equalise in the 69th minute when Ryan Upward produced a terrific 25-yard free-kick into the top corner.
But Romain popped up with the decider as Torquay registered a first away win in five games dating back to November.
