Edinson Cavani reveals what PSG have told him about Neymar feud

Neymar broke a world record when he moved to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona for €222million this summer.

Not everyone welcomed the Brazilian's surprise decision, and if anyone in the French capital has suffered from his arrival, it's Edinson Cavani.

Although the Uruguayan is now part of one of the deadliest attacking forces in European football, there have been suggestions that he'll gradually be phased out by Unai Emery.

The 30-year-old has scored an incredible 21 goals in all competitions already this season, so on paper, there's no reason why he can't work alongside Neymar and the young phenomenon Kylian Mbappe.

However, the forward was embroiled in a well-publicised spat with the former Barca superstar over who should take the Ligue 1 outfit's penalties.

In September's game against Lyon, Cavani stepped up to take the spot-kick before Neymar intervened.

Anthony Lopes ended up saving Cavani's penalty, no doubt much to his team-mate's anger.

It seems the matter has finally been closed once and for all, though, with the ex-Napoli man now revealing PSG have made a formal decision to avoid any future falling outs.

EMERY HAS MADE THE CALL

"The coach has decided that Neymar will take the next penalty," he said, quoted via FourFourTwo.

"We played a great game today [in the 4-1 win over Nantes]. We knew we could put another two points between ourselves and Monaco. That meant we were super focused on getting this result tonight. We weren't thinking about next weekend's match against Monaco. We were purely focused on winning tonight."

While he found the back of the net twice against Nantes, Neymar was relatively quiet, leaving the other goalscoring to Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore.

According to Le Parisien, PSG previously had to deny that they'd offered Cavani €1million to hand penalty duties over to Neymar.

What is obvious is that Emery must do whatever he can to keep his record signing happy.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi and the board backed him in the summer by going all out to procure the 25-year-old, so maybe they were always going to favour him.

Even if the dispute is resolved for now, Al-Khelaifi must be questioning his comments that signing Neymar would bring "positive energy" to the club.
