Port Vale too good for Oxford in FA Cup clash

Port Vale saw off Oxford at Vale Park 2-0 to progress into the second round of the FA cup.
Port Vale took the lead on 15 minutes after James Gibbons whipped in a cross that Gavin Gunning met with his head tucking it into the bottom left corner to make it one nil.
The Valliants made it two just after the break with another header as Tom Pope sent home a cross from Danny Pugh on 52 minutes following a fantastic touch from Tyler Denton who is on loan from Leeds.
Vale went into the break a goal to the good following a lively first half with plenty of chances for both sides.
The U's came close after half an hour after Boot fumbled the ball that caused a goal line scramble but Port Vale were able to hang on.
In the second half Vale were largely on top but failed to convert great chances, including Denton who put the ball wide after Dwight Tiendalli made the error of passing the ball across his own box.
