Ben Kennedy leaves it late to earn Stevenage victory

A late Ben Kennedy strike saw Stevenage bounce back from the weekend drubbing at Luton and earn a dramatic 3-2 Sky Bet League Two win at home to Accrington.

Jordan Clark opened the scoring before Matthew Godden brought Boro back on level terms.

Billy Kee's penalty restored the visitors' advantage, but Godden bagged his second with a powerful header.

Kennedy's late effort then saw the hosts snatch all three points from John Coleman's side.

The away side started brightly and took the lead through Clark's expertly drilled shot from the right after good work from Liam Nolan - while Boro were restricted to half chances in the first period.

The hosts were level on the hour when Dale Gorman's neat through-ball found Godden, who slid the ball through Aaron Chapman's legs.

Stanley regained the lead two minutes later through Kee's penalty after Fraser Franks' clumsy challenge on Kayden Jackson.

Darren Sarll's side came again and equalised when Godden powerfully headed into the top corner after Joe Martin's inviting cross.

On 88 minutes, a swift counter-attack saw Danny Newton play in Kennedy whose left-footed strike sent the home fans into pandemonium.
