Manchester United are reportedly planning to sign Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil in January.
A move to Old Trafford will not only be sensational but sees Ozil and United boss Jose Mourinho reunite.
Both worked together at Real Madrid, arriving simultaneously in the summer of 2010, with Ozil going on to play 157 times under the Portuguese tactician.
Ozil's present deal at Arsenal expires in June 2018 and hasn't shown any signs that he's keen to remain at the Emirates beyond this season, according to the Independent, with Mourinho confident of bringing him up north.
It means the German playmaker can speak to would be suitors in January and potentially sign a pre-contract ahead of a free transfer next summer.
Father figure
The relationship between Ozil and Mourinho is strong with the Gelsenkirchen-born footballer lavishing praise on his former mentor and vice versa.
"Mourinho is [like] a father to me," he said in 2012. "He is a great teacher, a strong character and a caring coach to all of his players."
Mourinho, who guided Los Blancos to a league championship in 2012 with Ozil present, reciprocated those words a few years later.
Ozil is unique," he said in 2015. "There is no copy of him, not even a bad copy. He is the best No.10 in the world."
