Inter Milan make Nice defender Dalbert their fourth major summer signing

Inter Milan have signed defender Dalbert from Nice, with the full-back signing a five-year contract on Tuesday after undergoing a medical.

Dalbert, who had also attracted interest from Liverpool, moves to Italy for a reported fee of €20 million.

The 23-year-old becomes Inter's fourth major summer signing after the arrivals of Milan Skriniar, from Sampdoria, and Borja Valero and Matias Vecino, both from Fiorentina.

"Last summer, Nice took a chance on Dalbert and it turned out to be a great decision," an announcement on the Inter website read. "The Brazilian established himself as one of the most interesting left-backs in Ligue 1, as he made 33 league appearances; one in the French Cup and four in the Europa League.

"During this positive campaign, he was a key figure as Nice kept the pressure on Monaco and Paris Saint-Germany [sic], ultimately finishing third and securing a Champions League spot where they will now face Napoli after beating Ajax.

"Under Lucien Favre, Dalbert showed great physical and technical ability as he got up and down the flank and he came up with four assists last season. Furthermore, he was the Nice player with the most crosses (94) and the most dribble attempts (100)."

Dalbert will rival Yuto Nagatomo for a place in the team, with the Japan defender recently saying he does not intend to leave Inter.

"[Justin] Gatlin won the 100 metres final aged 35," Nagatomo wrote on Twitter. "They say that beyond 30, your agility and speed suffer a drop and you start to feel your age, but even when you pass 30, if you respect your responsibilities, you can still produce high-quality performances.

"I am about to turn 31 and I still have a lot to give. I just need to do my best."

New coach Luciano Spalletti is expecting further reinforcements, with Borussia Dortmund's Emre Mor another target.

On Wednesday, Dortmund announced on Twitter: "Emre Mor will miss the shooting of the team picture. He has been released from training to hold final talks over his future."
