€37,330 for one meal?

Cristiano Ronaldo may be looking for a "transfer" from Real Madrid and the football world is dominated by the Confederations Cup and European Under-21 Championships, yet Leo Messi continues to hog the headlines.

On Saturday, a restaurant bill from Ibiza went viral, it was claimed to have been paid by Leo Messi on holiday in Ibiza last week.

The bill was for a whopping €37,330 and reports on social media suggested it was from a meal shared by Leo Messi, Antonella Roccuzzo, Luis Suarez, Sofia Balbi, Cesc Fabregas and Daniella Semaan.

27 pizzas & 41 bottles of champagne!

Eyebrows were raised on further inspection of the receipt, which included 27 pizzas, seven burgers and 41 bottles of champagne.

But, hey, it's the summer transfer season, pretty much everything is believable right now from transfers to footballers enjoying themselves on holiday.

However, Leo Messi has now had his say about the viral restaurant bill, with a very cheeky comment on Instagram.

"The cutest thing is that people believe it"

An Instagram football page named "Juezcentral" posted a picture from Luis Suarez's Instagram account alongside the €37,330 receipt.

Cue a Leo Messi comment in Spanish:

"Jajajajajajajaja que manera de hablar al pedo. Como inventan. lo mas lindo es que la gente se lo cree."

Translated into English:

"What a way to talk sh**. What a way to invent (lie). The cutest thing is that people believe it."

Messi's most aggressive use of social media so far

Somewhat surprisingly, "Juezcentral" have deleted the post containing the pictures and Messi's comment.

Messi's comment had already garnered close to 1,000 likes and was spreading quickly on the social media network.

Fans of Messi and Barcelona have reacted in delight to Messi's most aggressive use of social media, perhaps ever.

At around the same time as the comment appeared on Instagram, Messi also posted a picture which will be familiar the world over to parents.

It featured Messi in a bed with his two sons Thiago and Mateo.
