Arsenal free to launch £21m raid this summer amid contract fears

Goretzka, 22, will be out of contract with Schalke at the end of next season.

And, according to Bild, the club are fearful they could lose one of their prized assets for nothing.

Instead they will reportedly look to cash in on Goretzka for around £21m this summer.

The Sun claim Arsenal are likely to be among his potential suitors.

Mesut Ozil’s long-term future with the Gunners is currently up in the air while the likes of Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin have struggled to make much of an impact this term.

And Goretzka could provide the perfect midfield solution, specially since he can play in a number of different roles.

However they are likely to face stiff competition if they do decide to pursue a move for the four-cap Germany international.

Italian giants Juventus are also credited with interest.
