Lahm: The Bundesliga lacks quality

FC Bayern Munchen currently lead the German top-flight by 13 points ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig, and Dortmund in third, who have 46 points - with nine games to play.

Unless they go through a very unlikely collapse at this late stage of the season, the Bavarians will secure their fifth consecutive league title.

And Lahm, who is retiring at the end of the season, says supporters should be directing their concerns at the rest of the Bundesliga teams - and not Bayern.

He told Stern: "Borussia Dortmund are an unbelievably talented team who could have made the Bundesliga title race a lot closer.

"Although you have to say the rest of the Bundesliga lacks quality.

"I don't think Bayern Munich alone is responsible for how good we are doing. If we are 13 points clear after 25 games, it means that other well-positioned clubs like Schalke or Wolfsburg have not been set up to win consistently."

He added: "The financial situation in the league wasn't that different in the years we finished second and fourth."

Bayern, who face FC Augsburg on Saturday, will be crowned 2016/17 champions if they win their next five matches.
