Raith Rovers 2 - 0 St. Mirren: Ryan Hardie is at the double for Raith as they see off St Mirren

Ryan Hardie scored a late double as Raith beat bottom side St Mirren 2-0 to end their 15-game winless run in the Ladbrokes Championship.

Rovers were forced to field midfielder Ryan Stevenson in goal in last week's 1-0 defeat by Ayr but there was no such drama on Wednesday night as new signing Pavol Penksa took the gloves.

A St Mirren win would have moved the strugglers to within three points of their hosts but those hopes were dashed when Hardie headed home Bobby Barr's cross on 74 minutes.

Saints pushed forward in search of an equaliser but Hardie settled the game 10 minutes from time when he rounded Billy O'Brien to finish after the goalkeeper had gifted him possession.
