Marouane Fellaini wanted Man United move
Fabio Cannavaro is currently manager at Tianjin Quanjian, who are preparing for the new CSL season.
And Starsport understands Fellaini's agent tried to broker a move before the transfer window closed in China.
But Cannavaro wasn't interested in signing the Premier League ace.
He said: "I think above all about signing players aged 28 or 29.
"Marouane Fellaini was offered to us.
"But I told his agent that I am looking for a different type of player."
The Belgium international only penned a new one-year contract extension at Manchester United in January.
Fellaini has not been a regular starter for United boss Jose Mourinho this season and knows he is not part of his long-term plans.
The Portuguese will allow a host of stars to leave United this season including Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Ashley Young and Fellaini.
The 29-year-old wasn't the only United player to be linked with Tianjin Quanjian.
Transfers for Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young were also mooted, but moves failed to materialise.
