World of football sends Fernando Torres overwhelming support

It is always a worry when players collide with each other on the pitch and Fernando Torres' terrifying collision with Alex Bergantinos forced the striker off the pitch and football as a whole has united to send their thoughts and messages of goodwill.

Several relatives of the Atletico Madrid striker allayed initial fears by suggesting that the initial danger and scare was over and that Torres was stable.

They passed on their thanks for the numerous messages of support that arrived within minutes of the incident from all corners of the footballing fraternity.

Former colleagues and rivals of the Spaniard were sent through social media channels whilst Los Colchoneros themselves moved to reassure supporters with an official statement.

'Torres is stable and conscious, he'll spend the night in hospital and undergo more tests tomorrow,' they explained.
