Southend United vs Northampton Town - Will Atkinson missing for Southend
Posted Friday, February 17, 2017 by PA
Southend must again do without suspended midfielder Will Atkinson for the visit of Northampton.
Forward Nile Ranger came off the bench for Tuesday night's 2-0 win at Oxford as he returned to action following a club suspension and could be in contention to start.
Striker David Mooney also featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly as he continues to recover following four months out with an ankle problem.
Winger Stephen McLaughlin is also stepping up his rehabilitation from ankle ligament damage as he targets a return to full training. Goalkeeper Mark Oxley (fractured elbow) remains sidelined.
Northampton defender Gabriel Zakuani is pushing for a recall.
Due to hamstring trouble, Zakuani has not featured for the Cobblers since he returned from international duty with DR Congo at the African Nations Cup, but he could start on Saturday.
Striker Alex Revell (calf) could also come into contention with defender Brendan Moloney (knee) not too far away from a return to action.
Otherwise, the Cobblers have no fresh injury concerns.
