Latvia 0 - 2 Faroe Islands: Faroe Islands second in Group B after win in Latvia

The Faroe Islands recorded a first-ever victory over Latvia with a 2-0 FIFA World Cup European Qualifying Group B win.

The Faroes started strongly and Sonni Nattestad opened the scoring after 19 minutes when he got on the end of Rene Joensen's corner and fired a left-footed shot past Andris Vanins.

Despite a much-improved Latvia performance after the break the Faroe Islands doubled their advantage in the 70th minute from a quick break as Hallur Hansson burst clear before finding Simun Edmundsson to finish smartly and send the visitors second in the group table.
