Valencia vs Atletico de Madrid - Voro welcomes Prandelli appointment

Voro has welcomed the appointment of Cesare Prandelli as Valencia boss and hopes his players put on a good show for their new full-time head coach.

Caretaker manager Voro delivered back-to-back LaLiga wins following Pako Ayestaran's dismissal, but the Valencia board has nevertheless opted to recruit former Italy and Fiorentina boss Prandelli.

The 59-year-old signed a two-year deal on Saturday evening, and he will watch Los Che tackle high-flying Atletico Madrid from the stands of the Mestalla before taking training on Monday.

Former Valencia defender Voro, completing his fourth stint as interim boss, feels Prandelli's presence will further motivate an improving team.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, quoted in Marca, he said: "Prandelli is here to watch the match so he can observe things in their natural state.

"It's an extra incentive for the players and will ensure they're well up for the game.

"Prandelli is a coach with a lot of experience who has managed at the highest level with national teams and at clubs. There's nothing left for him to learn.

"I don't know him personally but I know he's a great coach."

Referring to the Atletico encounter, he added: "They are a top team who have reached two Champions League finals. They've just beaten Bayern Munich!

"We need to use all of our attributes and the most important thing is that we are competitive. That way we will be successful."

Atleti boss Diego Simeone has already moved on from the 1-0 midweek victory over Bayern that gave his side the upper hand in their mission to reach the Champions League knockout stages.

He told Marca: "Football moves on and we have to head into Sunday's game with intensity and fully concentrated on the task at hand. The good stuff we did against Bayern is in the past."

When asked about the anxiety that could affect Valencia given the recent uncertainty with coaching staff, Simeone added: "We don't focus on things like this in order to gain an advantage.

"We believe we can find ways to succeed by playing our best football out there on the field."
