Sheffield United vs Crewe Alexandra - David Edgar and Alex Baptiste to miss out for Blades
Posted Thursday, March 24, 2016 by PA
Sheffield United will be without central defenders David Edgar and Alex Baptiste for the home game against Crewe.
Edgar is on international duty with Canada and Baptiste, on loan from Middlesbrough, will also miss both Easter holiday fixtures due to a hamstring injury sustained in last week's defeat at Millwall.
John Brayford may have to switch to centre-half or boss Nigel Adkins could call on Harrison McGahey, whose last first-team appearance in the league was back in October.
Midfielder Martyn Woolford (ankle) is still out, while forward Che Adams and midfielder Paul Coutts are pushing for recalls.
Crewe manager Steve Davis has plenty of options up front as he considers how to end a run of eight matches without a victory.
Striker Lauri Dalla Valle was an unused substitute for last weekend's defeat at fellow strugglers Blackpool as he made a first appearance in the squad since November after an ankle injury.
On-loan MK Dons forward Tom Hitchcock impressed as a substitute last Saturday while Davis has not ruled out new teenage signing from Ilkeston, Daniel Udoh, playing some part for the first team this season.
Forward Marcus Haber is on international duty with Canada while Callum Saunders (knee) and Ryan Wintle (foot) remain unavailable.
