Queen of South vs Rangers - Andy Dowie racing to be fit for Rangers reunion

Queen of the South hope that one time Rangers player Andy Dowie shakes off a knock and takes his place in the Palmerston defence for the visit of the table-topping Light Blues.

Andy Murdoch drops out as he is on loan from the Ibrox side with Dale Hilson the only injury absentee due to foot problem.

Manager James Fowler said: "I watched Rangers win in the Scottish Cup in midweek at Kilmarnock and thought that they grew stronger the longer the game went on.

"They showed their strength in depth as well however we have given them difficult games in the past couple of seasons and intend to do that again."

Martyn Waghorn is missing for Rangers.

Boss Mark Warburton admitted the striker could be out for the rest of the season with a knee injury picked up in the William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round replay win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in midweek.

Forwards Michael O'Halloran and Billy King return after being cup-tied against Killie while long-term absentee David Templeton (knee) remains sidelined.

Defender Danny Wilson said: "We have watched videos of them and they do knock it about well and have players who have played at the level for a long time and who are clever, so we will have to be on our guard against them."
