Augsburg 3 - 3 Mainz: Hat-trick thrill for Mainz striker Yoshinori Muto

Yoshinori Muto grabbed a hat-trick as Mainz denied Augsburg what would have been only their second win of the season in the final minute at the Augsburg Arena, snatching a 3-3 draw.

Bottom-placed Augsburg were looking to follow some of their recent cup wins with points in the Bundesliga, yet Muto's goal for Mainz 20 minutes into a game otherwise dominated by the hosts told a familiar tale.

Muto added a second 10 minutes later, only for Paul Verhaegh to reduce the arrears just before half-time from the penalty spot.

Hosts Augsburg levelled in the 50th minute when Ja-Cheol Koo netted against his former club from Caiuby's cross, before Raul Bobadilla gave Markus Weinzierl's men the lead for the first time with just under 10 minutes remaining.

It was not enough for victory, however, as Muto scored deep in stoppage time to leave Augsburg rooted to the foot of the Bundesliga.
