York City 1 - 2 Mansfield Town : Matt Green ends goal drought in Mansfield's win over York
Posted Sunday, August 30, 2015 by PA
Matt Green's first goals since 2013 earned Mansfield a 2-1 win at York.
The ex-Birmingham striker, who rejoined the Stags in the summer, netted twice to cancel out Reece Thompson's opener for the hoists.
York went in front in the sixth minute when Thompson pounced from two yards to get on the end of Luke Summerfield's inswinging free-kick from the left.
But Mansfield were level seven minutes later with Green's first of the afternoon.
The speedy attacker netted from point-blank range after Reggie Lambe's low-struck corner had been helped on by Krystian Pearce.
Green then fired the Stags in front on the half-hour mark, latching on to Craig Westcarr's ball through the left channel before beating Scott Flinders at his near post from 15 yards.
After the break, James Berrett shot wastefully wide of the visitors' goal after intercepting Adam Chapman's back pass, while Chris Clements almost gave the visitors a more commanding victory when his 20-yard shot hit an upright.
