One of the big talking points in the Bundesliga on Saturday concerned Schalke's assistant coach Sven Hubschner.
The Royal Blues had a poor weekend losing 2-1 on home soil the Cologne, and the match ended badly as Schalke's #2 was busted open on the sidelines.
According to reports a fan in the stands threw a Zippo lighter down on the sidelines, and the object hit Hubschner on his forehead.
The lighter immediately opened up Roberto Di Matteo's second in command, and left Hübschner with a fair amount of blood pouring from the wound.
The coach was taken for medical treatment where he needed stitches to close up the gash.
Schalke's General Manager Horst Heldt said after the game:
We hope to identify the [perpetrator] with the help of the ticket office and the video recordings. And we hope to identify the people who were sitting there too.
This is an absurdity because someone's health is being risked. We will identify the culprit.
