Identity crisis: Cristiano Ronaldo's son has no idea who his mum is

CRISTIANO Ronaldo’s son is still in the dark about his mum's identity, his family revealed last night.

Dolores Aveiro, the mother of the Manchester United legend, released her official biography last week, debates over the woman who gave birth to Cristiano Jr, who is now four, in a Florida hospital have surfaced once again.

In the biography, Dolores revealed she flew to the States to pick up the child, called Cristianinho or Little Cristiano by his family, from the private hospital and take him to Spain.

Ronaldo's current girlfriend is Irina Shayk, who started dating the footballer back in 2010.

The footballer’s older sister Elma admitted last night the youngster is still in the dark about his mum - thought to be a surrogate mother paid to give birth to Ronaldo’s first child.

She told Portuguese daily Diario de Noticias: “Cristianinho sometimes asks about his mum.

"Once we told him that she was in Heaven, but my brother and my mum didn’t like that and asked us not to repeat it.

"We say now that his mum went travelling. He goes silent, forgets about it and doesn’t ask anymore.”

Insisting the family regarded Dolores as the child’s mum, she added: “If later on Cristianinho wants to know who his biological mum is, it will be his decision and no-one’s going to stop it.”

Former Manchester United striker Ronaldo, 29, has managed to keep the youngster’s mum’s identity a closely-guarded secret, with reports over the years claiming she is everything from a surrogate mum to a woman he had a one-night stand with.

Dolores revealed in her approved biography, released last week in Portugal under the title ‘Moth Identity crisis: Cristiano Ronaldo's son has no idea who his mum is er Courage’, she had picked the child up from a private hospital in Florida while her son was playing in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Mum-of-four Dolores, whose alcoholic husband Dinis died of liver disease in September 2005, now lives near to her son on an VIP estate in Madrid where Gareth Bale also has a home so she can help raise Cristiano Jr.

Cristiano’s family has always refused to discuss whether his son was born to a surrogate mum.

Hinting Irina may soon marry Ronaldo, Dolores’ biographer Paulo Sousa Costa said: “In Cristiano Junior’s case, Dolores is aware she’ll have to wait some time to be totally rested.

"She knows that sooner or later her son will end up getting married and her grandson will have on a daily basis the figure of his son’s wife, who even though she will be a step mum, will naturally give him the love and affection any child deserves.”
