JUST weeks after former footie star David James declared himself bankrupt, his ex-missus could make a huge profit on their former family home.
SKINT: David James, as he played for Bristol City in 2012
The ex-Liverpool and England ace filed a debtor’s petition at court last month despite earning around £20million over his 25-year career.
But his ex- wife Tanya Frayne, 46, recently put the three- storey pad the couple bought for £1.1million up for sale – with a whopping £3million price tag.
The pair snapped up the swanky property in Brondesbury Park, north-west London when James was playing for West Ham in 2001.
But James, 43, moved out three years later when he hooked up with old flame Amanda Salmon, 42.
In 2005 the dad-of-four, who now works as a football pundit for BT Sport, was ordered to pay Tanya £3million plus a share of his future earnings after their divorce.
The house, which Tanya now owns, has a marble-floored entrance hall, cinema room and electric gates.
It was put up for sale recently for £2.9million, which would have made her a profit of £1.8million.
The house has now been taken off the market but estate agents Paramount reckon she would still be willing to listen to offers.
A spokesman said: “If I had some strong interest I could call up the owner and see if there would be a chance of a viewing.”
James, who was awarded an MBE for his services to football and charity in 2012, also played for Manchester City, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Watford, Bristol City and Bournemouth before retiring last year.
He will be automatically discharged from bankruptcy in 12 months.
James, who won the last of 53 caps in a 4-1 World Cup loss to Germany in 2010, was paid an average £15,000 a week over his career.
At the time of his divorce the couple’s assets were thought to total £6million, including seven properties in Wales, Liverpool and Dubai.
