The World Cup may be less than two weeks away, but for most clubs it will be business as usual this summer with the transfer window providing them the opportunity to strengthen
There have already been fervent reports linking players across the globe with moves, but until a deal has been signed anything can happen, as talkSPORT shows in this transfer hijack round-up.
Man United to gazump old rivals Liverpool
Liverpool spent large parts of the January window linked with Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka and while the Redmen eventually failed to land the Ukrainian, they are believed to have reignited their interest in him. However, according to the Mirror, Konoplyanka looks more likely to be winging his way to Old Trafford, with the publication claiming Man United are poised to pinch him from under their rival's noses.
Spurs move ahead of Arsenal
Arsenal's need for additional firepower is one of their biggest concerns this summer. The Gunners have been linked with a number of strikers, but one player who could be on the move to the Emirates is Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata. Arsenal were believed to be leading the chase for his signature, but Tottenham's recent appointment of Mauricio Pochettino looks to have moved Spurs to the head of the queue, with the Metro claiming they are ready to hijack their bid.
United face threat from Chelsea
While Manchester United have ended speculation surrounding Patrice Evra's future by offering the Frenchman a new one-year deal, it is believed that they are still keen on recruiting Southampton's Luke Shaw to succeed him. However, Chelsea's decision not to offer their own veteran defender Ashley Cole a new contract has opened up a spot at full-back, with the Express reporting that Jose Mourinho wants to full it with Shaw – forcing the Blues ahead of United in the race to land him.
Tottenham planning to beat Liverpool to wide man
Fresh from signing a five-year contract at White Hart Lane, new Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen on a reunion with his former charge Adam Lallana, despite Liverpool's well-reported interest. The 26-year-old is believed to have been the subject of a £25m bid from the Merseysiders, but according to the Liverpool Echo, Spurs are planning to hijack the move with an offer of their own.
Chelsea eyeing Newcastle target
Montpellier's Remy Cabella has been viewed as the playmaker that both the Toon Army and boss Alan Pardew have been craving for some time, but it looks as though that could all be in vain, as the Metro report that Chelsea are planning on making their own move for the 24-year-old. The publication claim the Blues are prepared to offer him £90,000-a-week to reject Newcastle's overtures.
